Notepad++ language style for SIESTA FDF files

There is a file
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\Application Data\Notepad++\userDefineLang.xml
If you haven’t created yet your language definitions, simply put my file there (it is for .FDF and .out files).
If you already have some custom definitions, just add the content of my XML file to yours.
Download userDefineLang.xml
Go to View=>User define dialog…
You should now see FDF and SIESTA output in the User Language drop-down list. Adjust to your taste.
Make sure that you see the newly created language in the Language menu.

You might need to select FDF explicitly from there, although, ideally Notepad++ should pick it up itself based on the extension of the file.

It seems it is a very useful tool,thanks!
However, when i download your file and place in the C:\Documents and Settings\dijua\Application Data\Notepad++\, and find the FDF and SIESTA output in the User Language drop-down list, I do not find the windows like yours.

Check in the “User-Defined Dialogue…” that you have fdf (and maybe FDF, whatever) in the “Ext.” field, as well as “Ignore case” checkbox (however this is written in my XML file, so this should not be the reason of the problem).
I think, I had a bug once that Notepad did not pick up the style based on extension and I had to do it manually from Language list (see above).
Try to reinstall Notepad++ from scratch or ask on their support forum.

Hmmm… I’m not really sure what windows are you talking about.
Contact me via email, that would be faster.
